It has certainly been a while since I have updated this blog. I have continued to keep an eye out for interesting gliders and I actually found some on E-bay a number of weeks ago. I purchased some vintage gliders that were made in Japan from an E-bay vendor in Argentina of all places. I couldn't resist getting my hands on these ones as they were unlike anything I have ever seen for sale before on E-bay.
I had to purchase 2 items off of the Argentinian vendor. Each item had a cardboard upper section which I presume was used as a store display. Stapled to the cardboard section is 12 individual glider packages. The first item had 6 English gliders (presumably Spitfires) and 6 German gliders (presumably Bf 109s). The second item had 6 USA gliders (presumably Hellcats) and 6 French gliders (possibly a Dewoitine?).

ReplyDeleteI think you will find that the ''French Glider'' is a discoloured Hurricane....
ReplyDeleteI think it might be a Dewoitine D.520. What do you think?
DeleteDewotine 250 more due to the colour scheme but if you look at the shape its a Hurricane template taken from that set we bid on together a year and half back.
DeleteIt sure looks similar. I gotta post pictures of these gliders sometime. I also wish I knew who manufactured them cause the packaging doesn't give away any clues.
DeleteAnd it has RAF roundels instead of French roundels.
DeleteGood afternoon. Is there any sort of checklist or master list of models actually produced online? I asked this because i noticed that there are models of bombers as well as birds available in the same manner. Thanks in advance for your response
ReplyDeleteHello there. I don't believe there is a master list of models anywhere. This blog was my attempt to create a comprehensive list of all styrofoam gliders. I have lots of gliders that I never even added to the list yet.
